I don't really think VRMs matter TOO much on Intel motherboards... just get the cheaper of the 2/the one that matches your colour scheme the best.

They are about equal to be honest. But for most people both are overkill so the VRM shouldn't be the only factor makes you choose 1 board over another.

I wanted to know for overclocking but also because I assume its a good way of gauging overall motherboard build quality?

Really depends. Anything above 6+2 stage is a bit overkill. 4+1 stages are only really bad if you're pushing an 8-core CPU to 5GHz.

go with asus, its a much larger company and has a reputation for making some of the best motherboards in the world

Any Z170 will have great build quality, for the most part there is zero gain in buying really expensive motherboards
