Guyzzz........ Today's world is now entering into a new dimension of gaming where the games are too big... Take for example GTA V......... Its game folder requires at least 60gb of hard disk.......... Also its setup's size is too big around 36-39 gb........... Friends, I want to know how to compress these games such that we can store them anywhere in minimum possible space after compressing them and then successfully decompress them and play them,.......... Is there any way to do so .???????

although you should just buy more storage (RIP laptop users though), you can set windows to compress a drive. Doesn't save that much though, only like 5%, and depending on your CPU can put a big impact on performance. I only use compressed drive for my external hard drives for that reason.

You can't compress them.

 

If you want to compress them, get a bigger hard drive.

60gb is TINY in today's standards. I can get a 512gb flash drive and you can pick up 80gb hard drives for free.

If you go to source of the problem. Better graphics, more audio files, those make most of the file size. The coding might be possible to make smaller. But that would mean more pre-scripted stuff and less good game design like player interaction.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but .zip is lossless, right? You could, if you don't intend to play it for a while just zip it that way (wait for a response confirming before you do this, though) and unzip it when you want to get back into it if that helps. If you wanted to unzip every time you run it automatically, sorry, you're out of luck.

Tip to those that are new on LTT forum- quote a post so that the person you are quoting gets a notification, otherwise they'll have no idea that you did. You can also use a tag such as @Ryoutarou97 (replace my username with anyone's. You should get a dropdown after you type the "@")to send a notification, but quoting is preferable.

If you are a native speaker please use proper English if you can. Punctuation, capitalization, and spelling are as important to making your message readable as proper night theme formatting is.

The problem is that most game assets are already compressed. They aren't using an extreme form of compression as its designed to be randomly accessible but its still reasonably well compressed. So putting the game through 7Zip on maximum isn't going to get you very much saved space at all, let alone using something seamless like the Windows drive compression. So in practice the answer is games are already stored compressed.
