Define R4 HDD Vibration

roboplex22

So I just bought a define r4. I noticed that it's having the same problem as my other case. While the new case without the HDD plugged in is virtually silent, when it is plugged in it's vibrating pretty bad. It's weird. You can't really hear it much while I'm under my desk, but as soon as my head clears the desktop, I hear tons of vibrations. I think it's passing vibrations to the desk shelf its sitting on, that's passing it to the desktop, and that's amplifying the noise. So I pretty much need NO vibrations. I doubled up on the rubber washers, nothing. Tried adjusting to no end, nothing. I'm not sure what to do about this. I'd really appreciate your guys' help. Thanks!

How old is the drive?

Not old at all. It's a WD Blue 1TB and I got it last Christmas (2014).

Tried putting a foam pad(s) on the bottom of the HDD. If that sounds work, a little rubber table under it. If that still doesn't work, replace.

I was thinking about suspending it with bungee cord in the bay or something. Do you think that would work?

That'd be a good try and would look cool :P

Cool! I'll try the bungee cord, then the foam padding and rubber table, then if its still vibrating I'll RMA the drive if I still have a warranty.
