it's mostly because factories have stopped producing as much ram in preparation for DDR4. Also last year they were exceptionally low prices.

Well there's this.

Also, the fact that PC is dying and mobile is booming. Why produce as much RAM for computers as you have in the past if the market is dying? So some manufactures are switching to mobile RAM.

I don't want to wait 3+ years for a new Motherboard, CPU, to get 16 or 32 GB.

And all the ram makers are suppling Smartphones and other things first and then PC's are the last down the chain so they have to pay alot more to get the ram.

Yeah the RAM prices really do suck big time! Let us hope for Christmas that the prices come down so we can grab some at reasonable prices once again. I personally don't think the makers of RAM like samsung and sk hynix sell at a loss. It is the re-sellers like Kingston and the rest that make a small profit but think they can make more and that is why the prices have been raised.

lol, PC development is also booming, mobile is becoming more popular, yes. But people use mobile and desktop devices for different purposes. PCs will only start dying the day quantum computing is on consumer level. (which technically will also be a pc so meh they won't die any time soon)

just an FYI, mobile ram also increased in price  <_<

This. Mobile memory production is crowding out PC RAM.

16GB (2x8) Kingston HyperX 2133MHz CL11 = 115 euros. I think prices are down actually, for example, last year, i bought 8GB 1600MHz kit for 60 euros.

Not big change, when you factor in "speed" of the modules it seems it is cheaper actually.
