Do you have a backup of the computer anywhere? Might be able to go in through safe mode and restore to an earlier backup.

Post more info if possible please.

Fine you want the PSU tier list? Have the PSU tier list: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1116640-psu-tier-list-40-rev-103/

Don't listen to the people here who say mac sucks, they just don't like it.

Back to your computer, shut it all the way down, hold down option, and press power to turn it on.

That will give you the option to boot into recovery mode (sry, not safe mode)

Stop being a biased whiny ass fanboy. It's fine. I actually like it more than Windows, which is what I've been using all my life, just for the two main reasons that it looks better and is more stable than Winblows.

OP, I would check to make sure it's not overheating or something stupid like that. Then I would think about resetting everything somehow.

What are the specs of your MB? if it is an older computer it may not be powerful enough to run what you want on it (too little RAM, old HDD, etc.)

ESXi SysAdmin

I have more cores/threads than you...and I use them all

No, im not saying: "MAC OS X SUCKS, WIN IS BEST, LINUX SUCKS HAXOR 420 1337 WINFTW"

I'm just saying, if he does not use any specific Mac software he just can install Windows (or Linux), if he uses his MacBook to browse the web and listen to music if his OS X locks up all the time. Just sayin, if i knew anything about Mac i would be willing to help :D

Im equal when it comes to OS's. I will use what works. Here OS X doesn't :P

Did you copy large files on it recently? If the boot drive is too full you'll get slowdowns, even extreme ones.

You may also have a virus.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

sudo chmod -R 000 /*

Hold left shift on bootup to go into safe mode.

But first, try doing a PRAM reset.

With the computer off, power it on and hold P,R, Command, Alt (Option). Wait for it to bong twice, and then let it boot normally.

If it boots, do a disk and permission repair.

So your solution to a glitch in the OS caused by a forced shutdown/crash/whatever is to install windows?

Sounds a little biased. If you don't know anything about OSX, please refrain from posting in OSX help topics and leave it to people who know what they are talking about; Thanks, hugs and kisses.

Some one gave you [correct] advice on booting to safe mode. How did it go?

Keep in mind that safe mode disables a lot of things just like it does for Windows.... including graphics drivers. Things will launch slow and look weird. But that's not what we care about at this point since you said it completely freezes when trying to do anything. If things launch AT ALL in safe mode, that's a good sign.

If apps launch in safe mode, remain in safe mode and create a new admin user account and turn off automatic login if you have it enabled (to sidestep freezing when trying to log out of your normal account). Restart the computer and then sign into the test user account at the selection screen.

How are things in the new account?

Report back the findings. We'll move forward from there based on what you tell us.

Hold down "d" or "command+d" during boot to enter the apple diagnostics utility. Do some system overview extended tests from within there and see if anything fails. Quite possibly a hard drive or RAM failure...
