im looking at some stuff and seeing about upgrading my cpu and mobo im on a budget i currently runa fx 6300 on a 970 chipset with 32 gigs of ddr3 corsair vengeance an h60 water cooler and a evga gtx 780 ti but i can purchase a evga z68 motherboard and a core i7 2600k for 320$ the motherboard has never been used but the cpu has is this a good deal? my budget is 350$

Could be, going from a FX to an i7 as an upgrade would be probably a good deal, although where are you buying from as for that little you could have a DOA or it could be a hoax.

You could atually get a better deal on a newer i5 than a 2011 i7.

Well the biggest thing is I think my amd cpu Evan oced to 5ghz is totally bottlenecking my 780 ti

Fingers crossed for ebay as they can say factory sealed, but can sometimes by lying and giving you a rip off. You could even try places like free geek that are trusted sellers rarther than the usual rabble on eBay.

To me a FX-63X0 = i3 and i3 to i5 is not worth it to me so go for i7!

That's a good deal as your current cpu is probably bottlenecking ypur gpu.

Especially since you can oc that i7 around 5ghz.

Considering the op uses 32gb of ram, he probably not using this rig solely for gaming, which means he'll need an i7 for what hes doing.

This then, it's still better than the 2600K across the board, and it's new and modern socket with modern features and more energy efficient (much more if you consider that he would need a significant overclock on the 2600K to match this processor)

If you live near a microcenter , you can get a new i7 4790k and motherboard combo for that price .

than 2 generations older CPU like the 2600K...yes it will...this xeon has a boost clock of 3.8ghz and most H97 motherboard can lock it across all 8 threads...to match 3.8ghz haswell you need around 4.5ghz sandy-bridge...so unless you dump a strong overclock on an already most likely beaten up 2600K you ain't gonna match this processor.

 

i'm all for buying used parts when there's a deal to be made, this ain't one.

it's a good strong CPU don't get me wrong, but you can have the same performance or better with brand new parts.
