Hello LinusTechTips community, long time subscriber and first time poster here.

Well today I am going to build a PC for $1000, I am located in British Columbia.

My aim for this build is to be a normal home computer, gaming PC and do some light rendering and animation.

I already have a monitor and the peripherals are not included in the budget.

Well currently, I made myself a draft but I am not sure if this is the best for the price.

Isn't the 7950 slower than the 760? That's what I have heard about it.

They overclock like a beast man, and the extra Vram will help in the new games like BF4 which has been said to you minimum of 2gb of Vram.

That's if you want to max it out

Well considering he is building a new PC, he would want to have the best chance of maxing it?

Heck, maybe not even maxed out. Battlefield 3 maxed out barely goes over 1gb vram, and Frostbite 3 isn't such an incredible improvement over Frostbite 2. So 2gb is good for 1080p

Yes but the 7950 would be a better choice for future games as well....and they overclock well, pointless getting a 760.

Unless he would like to use features like ShadowPlay

He didn't state that at all. 7950 or 9 series equivalent is a better option, plus you get free games.

Of course it's the better option in terms of performance

Not to be... hostile or anything, but I feel the need to point out a flaw in your argument, he didn't specify whether he needs those features or not at all, so why did you insist 7950?
