Low Profile CPU Cooler w/ High Profile Memory in HTPC

dZt NA

Planning on a build in the Lian-Li PC-O6X and I will be using

- i5-4690K

- Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR3-2400 16GB (4x4GB)

I need to know if the Noctua NH-L9i or the Phanteks PH-TC12LS are enough to cool a 4690K overclocked to ~4.0Ghz in a compact case like the PC-06X (So-Cal resident, so please take summer temperature into consideration).

Play LoL, CS:GO, Overwatch, Payday2

both should manage, but why Platinums? I'd just go with HyperX Fury's they're considerably cheaper with no performance loss.

can't guarantee 4GHz, there's a tiny chance you'll get a poor overclocking chip.

this

silicon lottery is a bitch, but the 4690Ks tend to be easy to reach to 4.4+ GHz.

and this person won it :P

Since it is a Lian-Li and I'm using an EVGA GTX960, I want the components to match.  Is the Noctua or Phanteks better?  I'm leaning towards the Phanteks one for the same reason I'm going with Dominators: it looks better.

I agree with the Phanteks, but how about the Cryorig C7? (if you can find it of course)

I wish I could find the C7.

I have the Noctua NH-L9i and it's a nice small form factor cooler but I wouldn't overclock with it. It does perform better than the stock cooler does but it's not that much better. Although with this sort of form factor cooler they're all going to be like that. How constrained are you in terms of height? Because there are other options even from Noctua. Just a quick search and I've found the Noctua NH-D9L (90mm dual tower) and the Noctua NH-L9x65 (almost identical to the L9i just 28mm thicker)

Fools think they know everything, experts know they know nothing
