It's not even a competition in games. FX is behind in every single one of them, in some games i3 kicks 9590's ass.

It depends on the budget.

not for games it doesn't. from g3258 up intel wins along the way.

Intel for the CPU because of better single threaded performance (basically all games benefit from it, DX12 i'm not sure yet). For GPU AMD or Nvidia will do you well.

I'll take an 860k over a G3258 any day. In games that don't utilize more than two cores, a G3258 is no question better, but that's not the way games are trending.

Depends on the game when it comes to AMD vs Intel.

In GPU limited games (most games), it doesn't matter, so I'd save the money by going with an Athlon 860K

In CPU limited games (MMOs, ect), intel would be worth it.

As for AMD vs Nvidia, AMD actually has the better performance in DX12, while Nvidia slightly edges AMD out in DX11. DX10 and older both are equal.

All around, I'd go Intel CPU and AMD GPU, unless you're on a tighter budget, then I'd reccomend 860K with an AMD GPU (R9 380 is an amazing value)

it's a close call. if you play league of legends, CS or Dota 2 G3258 would be better.

If you play more triple A games 860K will probably come out clearly  on top in a while.

Both of them suck imo and a used CPU would be better, but you know.

Well in that case.

390x or 980ti?

they don't compete. different performance brackets and price brackets.

Not the G3258. This isn't really a fair comparison but in GRID 2, I saw that it runs better with four slower cores than with two strong cores (CPUs in question; AMD A6-5200 and Intel Core i5-2450m)

I saw GTA V use all four cores EASILY on my processor.

Some games don't benefit from multi-core CPUs (Team Fortress 2 and most MMOs is the best example) but a majority will run just as good on the 860K as G3258.

well okay. I never recommended g3258 to anyone anyway. stupid product to buy when every game is using more cores now and some devs(derps) even limit games to 4 threads.

Yeah, at 5ghz lmao

Could clock it down to 4.8, still fine, it is true the intel side of chips will perform better but not really noticeable with a slight tune up but most people don't know what they're doing as it's confusing as balls.

My cpu is weaker than intels fresh out the box so I overclock to get the most performance I can until I build a skylake rig.
