GPU + IGPU = BETTER PERFORMANCE?

Go to solution Solved by QueenDemetria,

CAN I COMBINE THE POWER OF MY IGPU AND GPU TO MAKE A CROSSFIRE ARRANGEMENT???

plsplspls

gpu = amd radeon r9 270x 4gb

cpu: intel core i5 4440

Not at this moment, but its theoretical with DX12.

Not even then. It could be possible but I'll never happen.

They've already done it with Nvidia + AMD, it's all a matter of drivers and the developers of the game supporting such a feature.

QUOTE ME IN A REPLY SO I CAN SEE THE NOTIFICATION!

When there is no danger of failure there is no pleasure in success.

That's what the word theoretical implies in that context.

i WILL BE ABLE TO USE MY IGPU ONE DAY???

The best answer we can give is "maybe". Like we've already seen with AoS, its possible to run a Red and Green card together, but all of this is "experimental". The final result might not work this way. Luckily I'm optimistic with DX12, since it doesn't rely on the drivers itself to be compatible(as in the drivers are still separate), but this too could change. Also game devs would have to implement this as well, so if it is possible, it would vary by game.

It's already a thing it's called Virtu MVP, your board has to support it

Well, sure, if DX12 game devs implement it. I've heard the iGPU counts as a GPU to DX12, so you'd be able to utilize it most likely.

But, we'll have to wait for AoS to come out for consumers to test it.

The way DX12 works, even if dual graphics is implemented poorly, all the negatives associated with dual graphics cards are gone.

Upgrades over DX11:

- All the graphics devices can work on a single frame at the same time. Whereas in DX11, the graphics devices had to alternate.

- All the graphics devices can stack memory, you may however run into some issues if the memory bandwidth is different. Though not to the same degree as was the case with the 970.

Theoretical:

You can combine graphics devices of vastly different quality, and even from different brands. Though this was in theory possible with DX11, it was earlier constricted to only work twice as fast as the slowest GPU. Yet i still very much doubt AMD and Nvidia will be supported, and at best will yield very poor scaling if it works without dedicated software from either company.
