I [might] be in the market soon for a good HOTAS to use with Star Citizen and other Simulators. (at the moment I am using my xbox/pc controller and my keyboard/mouse combo. I considered getting one earlier this year but with all of the different types and makers out there I am curious about which ones perform best and/or are comfortable and easy to use.

Would any of you be willing to make recommendations based on experience?

I do care about price eventually but at the moment input is what I want and price is the exception for now and I don't care if you recommend a $350 HOTAS as long as it is an honest recommendation and you give why. I kinda have an idea of what I am looking for but I have never own a HOTAS before. So I am asking for your assistance. I'll take the top 2-3 recommendations and go from there.

Thanks in advance.  :D

@SansVarnic

Well to be fair there is no king hotas.

All of them have pros and cons.

In case you weren't aware, there are some custom made hotas coming, by Saitek/Mad cats made for Star citizen, ofc it can be used for other games, maybe those will be good? Time will tell.

Personally I have a X55 Rhino, it's not too shabby, gets the job done but I wish it was better.

There is also the Warthog hotas that is popular, but I find the throttle to be a cheap plastic disappointment. Also the joystick doesn't twist.

Thank you for your input.

Yeah I know there is no King but I'm looking for experience using these as I don't have the money or the will the buy 5 Hotas to experiment with and then decide which one to keep.  :(

I found this video on youtube;

And he seems to do a pretty fair job of describing the controllers. As a matter of fact I see myself agreeing with the gentleman in the video but I felt that maybe the Warthog joystick combined with the X55 throttle would be grand. But overall i think I agree with him.

I will check out what you mentioned and see what I find.

Again Thanks. :)

@SansVarnic yeah I've seen many say that combining those two will Create a great Hotas setup, it's an expensive idea but I'm sure it would be great.

But yeah x55 and warthog, it usually comes down to those two.

I wish you look on your search.

Good for you, have you any experience with any other Hotas?

I find it to be flimsy and compare to the joystick it feels cheap, the X55's on the other hand feels solid, more robust. And less flimsy. As for the joystick, it's not bad but it's not warthog quality,At least we can change Springs it.

And no, I'm not on crack. Just because someone's opinion on something is different from yours doesnt mean they are wrong... Or on crack.
