Planning to build my younger brother a new PC for Christmas

TieBomber232

Hey guys, as the title says, I'm intending to build my brother a new PC for Christmas - currently he's using an old HP laptop from 2009 so yeah xD

Just wanna get peoples adivce on what components to use, i've selected most of them because of the colour scheme (green), but if there are any awful things please correct me and i'll change them.

Unsure as to Z97 or Z170 for him so they're both written down :P

Intel i7 4790K / Intel i7 6700K

MSI GTX970 100 Million Edition (green)

Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Game Plus MoBo (green) / Gigabyte GA-Z170 Sniper MoBo (green)

HyperX Fury 16GB (2*8) 1866MHz DDR3 (black) / equivilant DDR4 probably 2133MHz (preferably Black too)

Samsung 850 Evo 250GB (boot)

WD Black 2TB (mass storage)

Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo

Corsair Obsidian 450D

Windows 10 64Bit

// Donating my RM750 for his PSU so I can get a newer, higher power one for 980SLI :P

// And some DVD/BluRay drive

Cheers in advance guys :D

I'd go Skylake/Z170 for "futureproofing."

Asus GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB STRIX OC | BitFenix Prodigy (Black/Red) | XFX PRO Black Edition 850W

If you are only playing video games an i5 will be fine. The 4690k/6600k.

Do not get a 970 meme card. Go 390.

Haswell will be fine really. But if you have the budget you can go skylake.

Quote my post if you need me to respond.

purpose for PC?

if its just gaming you can go cheaper

i5-6600k

R9 390

some trust-able PSU

everything else is fine.

worry about color scheme last

and you are set. than you are future proofed as well :)

Get a i5 6600k if your just gaming, get a 390 and finally get a be quiet! Pure Rock, as it is quieter and looks better IMO

Should get a 390 over a 970

Otherwise what's the budget?

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

I don't actually have a budget, I was just trying to make something great for 1080p that can play GTA5, Project Cars, rFactor/rFactor2, Battlefield/COD and such, for him. I'll defo take the 390 into consideration but he wants green(as in the colour) stuff xD
