I have a pair of Beats Solo 2s but use my ATH M50xs for anything more serious than just listening to spotify off my phone.

They will be fine for gaming, if you play games with a lot of action but you typically want relatively accurate headphones when video editing so you can make sure your audio sounds fine.

Beats suck

For everything

Except Swag

Everyone knows that. But it's not like you need extremely accurate sound while playing games unless you like to sound whore a lot. He has them so he might as well use them.

If you want gaming headphones for $200 the sennheiser G4ME ONE is the way to go

I'm not so sure beats are really as bad as you guys say... I think the newer ones are much improved, but thats just from testing in the apple store. I personally use CIEMs... so its not like I don't know what good headphones sound like.

I have a 2019 macbook pro with 64gb of ram and my gaming pc has been in the closet since 2018

They are certainly much improved. However, most other options in the price range are still far superior, as far as sound quality alone goes.

THEY ARE SHIT FOR EVERYTHING!

No, actually they aren't. Please learn to actually try things before you say useless, unhelpful things about them.

Besides, OP already owns them, so telling him/her they their headphones are shit (which this particular pair isn't...) doesn't help anyone to learn anything.

Maybe. But I'm not so sure sound quality is the most important thing in a headphone for most people, especailly for headphones that people will be using out and a bout. When you say 'far superior', I find sound quality difficult to quantify. And those things that make a headphone sound better tend to be completely neutralized by outside noises. That's probably why the Bose NC headphones are probably the best portable headphones: sure they are warm as hell but they at least you can hear the music at a reasonable sound level.

There is something to be said about a consistent music experience: I think Beats gives you that. I reject the "head-fi" approach to music equipment that has been growing on this forum.

Furthermore, I think sound editing (for the video) with beats is more likely to produce results that most people will like since beats have a sound signature closer to many lower end headphones than higher end headphones.

By those logic why upgrade from apple earbuds if outside noise neutralized any potential improvement and you can use them for sound editing since that's what most people use?

You have no fucking clue. This forum is nothing like head-fi. If it were, I would be gone immediately.

What do you even mean by the head-fi approach? For this forum, that doesn't even make any sense. I mean, for me, I just started my first job, so that will open a lot of doors for gear should I choose to spend my spare money on that. But that's just the way of things with life and getting older.

Also, by far superior, beats have a terrible, hiss prone noise quality that nose doesn't have, if you insist on noise cancelling. However, for the VAST majority of people, noise cancelling isnt needed. And when I said far superior, there are many, many headphones that can beat beats in whatever qualities you enjoy about their sound.

I am just telling the truth. If he wants a good pair of headphones get Sony MDR-7506 or Audio-Technica m50x.

Well, since you're recommending the m50x, you clearly don't know too terribly much about headphones in general. Not to mention that the mdr 7506 is okay, nothing special and nothing great (aside from durability, ofc).

The second gen beats are far better than their predecessors. The only problem with them, atleast IMO, is the price. They are still pricy for what they are, despite being incredibly better than what they were before.

No point in hating beats right now if you ask me. They've listened to feedback from dudes who want to like Beats but can't because they sounded like ass, so they did it... while not entirely winning against the marketing department's demands or something.

The Head-fi community is allergic to measurements. The funny part is that majority of them don't know it yet.

Yeah.

From my 10 min total on head fi, I can tell how bad they are... "Your source should cost the same as your headphones"
