gtx 960 for mid to hi settings

Hi guys, I need opinion regarding this. Im planning to build a new unit, pure gaming pc that can play all new games and upcoming games

at mid to hi settings [not ultra, anti-alias off] on a 1080p resolution. Does the gtx 960 is enough?

Meh, probably. If you can afford the extra PSU wattage, look into the R9 380, but the lower VRAM versions (2GB and 4GB), but if you want a 960, get the 4GB VRAM one.

I would say most likely yes, It's quite good for 1080p Ultra without AA

I'd say for YOUR needs it's ample.

 

Google some reviews for it, "GTX 960 review" they would test it in many titles at 1080p and you can judge its power for yourself.

Depends on the game but medium settings on most should be fine. The more demanding games might drop down in fps.

He shouldn't need a more powerful PSU than he would for the 960, the 380 can run easily on a quality 550W unit. The difference in power consumption is not that much.

A 960 most def will play new and upcoming game at very good frame as long as you have decent cpu and ram to go with. I current have gtx 660 and I can run Battlefront on medium at 60+ frame. I never dips too

no please don't suggest that its a waste of money I have the 4gb one. and the reason its a waste of money is because first of all the chip is self is too slow to utilize 4GB and 2nd of all its memory bus is 128bit which is to slow to use 4GB effectively as well.

I guess it's mainly the heat output. 380 is a BEAST, on the level of a 970

Yes but it's really ideal. You make a lot of compromises in order to reach a high enough frame rate. 

If you want any AA then 970. I would say 970 would be 1080p high/very high settings.

Mate, you've got it wrong. The 380 is better than 960 and the 390 is better than 970.

People seem to think the SLI 970's are incapable.... yes, they have a flaw, but its not the end of the world, esp if you already have one, and are thinking of getting another.

 

4K yes, pointless, but 1080p/1440p on 970 SLI is without issue, chasing high fps for 120-144hz or just to max out any game at 1440p or below, they do it easily.

No it isn't, it's not there yet. The 390 is the competition for the 970 (although there's not much competition there)

Both can do mid settings 60 but the 380 will be able to do it for longer as it's about 15% more powerful and isn't bottlenecked by the laptop 128-bit bus it has.

 Many says go for 380 rather than the 960, I might also try that but It gonna cost me alot, in my country 380 is more expensive than 960.
