Are new games too easy?

tldr: are today's games holding the player's hand too much?

 

So, i was playing the witcher 2 the other day, and i found myself stuck, not finding where the next quest was, so i went to search for clues in my quest description, i went talking to poeple etc. I was having a lot of fun gathering clues and such. Then yesterday i played skyrim, and just skipped the conversation and went where the marker was, i did the quest, and i was finished in less time than i did to find where my quest was in the witcher. I then thought: would today's games be more fun if they didnt hold your hand, and were more "hardcore" like the older games. Are the new gamers too lazy?

 

ps: i know the witcher 2 is not "that old" and "hardcore", but that's the most recent and widely known example of a game i know to have this kind of mechanic.

 

or maybe i'm too nostalgic of the games of old :P

They are making games accessible for everyone now.

Skyrim is VERY accessible now, but others released around that time too.

NOPE MGS 5, Mission 24, Metallic Erchaea Extreme - FUCK.  Dark Souls 1+2 and Bloodborne are very hard, Dying Light is hard (at night) Mass Effect hardest difficulty is TOUGH,
