I do a lot of Autodesk Inventor, Video Editing, Blender, and Gaming.

I was going to get a 4770k, but I am now wondering if a 2011 socketed CPU would benefit me more.

If you dont have a budget, 3970X. If you are willing to go 2011, a 3930K will do mighty fine for $550.

I like the color scheme of Noctua fans. Deal with it. Forget about the bad memories of the past.

Oh, there is no budget really, but I'd rather keep the whole computer at $4000-$5000

people just seem to be giving you 2011 cpu recommendations. honestly i'd say just from the features the new socket and chipset provide, go with the newer chip, 4770k gets my vote

Even if you have a huge budget, paying for a 3970x is pretty foolish, it costs twice as much as a 3930k and the performance increase is pretty much negligible, you can get the same with a slight overclock on the 3930k.

He wants to keep the build within $4000-$5000. Going with the 3930K will be under his budget, XD but yeah, what you said is true.

I'll probably be waiting for the 4930k if you suggest a 2011 socketed CPU

I only do small things, in Blender, maybe a few gigs, possibly more depending on what I want, for video editing, I plan on getting a better camera, one that actually shoots 1080p, so that'll be a lot more than just a few gigs at a time.

A 4770k and 16GB ram should be plenty for that.
