2 way SLI GTX 770 or 1 390 and wait

AlTech

Hi all,

I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card setup sometime soon and I want to know if i should go for a second GTX 770 considering I have one already, or a new R9 390 and wait until i have enough money to buy a second.

To be clear  the  770 is a 2GB 770 not a 4Gb one.

Thanks.

EDIT: IF anyone has better ideas, I'm listening

Objective: Be able to play games on 1080p or 1440p at ultra (something I can't do now). And be able to drive a second or third monitor down the line

Really?

Aya! I only just had this monitor for 1.5 years.

I want three monitors though. And three 1440p monitors seem quite expensive. (If you could find some cheap but good 1440p monitors that would be awesome!)

What kind of price range are you looking at? 1440P is getting cheaper.

144Hz, Gsnyc would be nice but its not necessary, IPS, Not sure on price but i thought they were around $300 USD each.

Oh, yeah, with 144hz Free-Sync monitors you're looking at more than that. If you want standard 60hz IPS 1440p monitors though they're a LOT cheaper than they were.

Wouldn't preformance also be a thing though since the 770 is nowhere near capable enough for Ultra much less 144Hz

I could do 1 1440p Free snyc 144Hz and then the rest could be 60Hz without free sync. How much would that be? Any specific monitors your reccomend?

I've been looking at the ASUS MG279Q (IPS) or the MG278Q (TN) even with my Nvidia card. Take a look at them.

Holy CRAP! It's $580 USD! WHAT! I don't have the money for this :( !  Looks like I'll be finding a cheaper option or just a 1080p option!

This is way too expensive for me!

Yeah I'm running out of VRAM in GTA V. And i was not getting good performance while playing GTA V at high settings (barely hitting 60 in some cases but hitting 70 in most). That's what prompted me to start looking for a new graphics card.

AHHHHH! All of you will be the end of me. You and my bank! I don't need that. I want 3 monitors, i currently have a 1080p monitor 60Hz but then I may get a 144Hz 1080p (1440p 144Hz is too expensive) and then another 1080p 60Hz.

what is your budget?

I don't a whole ton of money know but I will save up and get enough for 2 more monitors and 1 more graphics card (plus wait a while longer) then buy another of said graphics card.

Budget = IDK i'm saving up money and then actually go buy the damn thing! OK?

I know I'll be able to spend about $130 USD for the 1080p60Hz monitor, $269 for 1080p144Hz monitor, $329 per R9 390 ($329 x 2) .

You'll have to forgive me, maths was never my strong point and on top of that I'm converting to USD which is a little annoying.

EDIT: Oh and I will sell the 770 but i don't know how much that will fetch

@AluminiumTech

so say you have a total of 1000 USD + say 150 USD for the 770 and 50 bucks for your exsting 1080p monitor ok?

that puts us at around 1200 USD

that means we can get this:

and this:
