Yes, the GTX 690 is good, since it is two 680s.

But it really depends how much you can get it for.

As long as SLI works, sure. It's only 2GB though. Which wouldn't be a problem for one 680/960, but if you're trying to run higher settings it might.

Yeah i guess the 2gb on it could be a problem for newer games.

On 1080p it's fine with technically everything (except GTA V and heavily modded skyrim due to VRAM limitation), anything higher than full hd might struggle in AAA titles (dx11) because of only 2 gb VRAM per chip.

Modern games Differ on what they are. Is it playable? most likley on low-medium settings @ 1080p no problem

A single 680 can run all games low-medium 1080p (with ease). Just how low are you aiming here? :/

Like others say it is 2 GTX 680s combined. Its still definitely viable and it comes with 4GB of memory which is still pretty good and should last for 2 more years. The only issue is SLI. Unlike with a 2 GTX 680s in SLI you cant turn off SLI if the game does not support it.  This card has to have those SLI profiles to work and if they don't then performance can be unpleasant, On Ebay you can get these for $325 to $360. I would just get 390x honestly with the way prices are. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150727&cm_re=390x-_-14-150-727-_-Product after rebates it would be $380.

Correct. I didn't realize that they were both 2GBs. I thought they were both 4GB. Then in that case I would not get it at all.

Things are changing really fast now. I remember my buddy bought  his 1440p monitor in 2012 for about $715. That was of course on top of his SLI GTX 670. It was pretty beast back then.

Lol that card demanded respect. It was massive. I really wanted to upgrade from my 6870 back then to it but I was poor and just graduated college lol.

Yep - it was sexy as fuck. Though the 280X Vapor-X (7970 rebrand) is even better. I mean - 65*C max furmark load on a 250W TDP card? Sapphire are bae.

It was and would still be perfectly relevant with the VRAM. Sapphire and MSI are my favorite AMD cards. They both have the best cooling for them.  I made the switch to Nvidia in 2013 and it would be really hard for me to leave Evgas every so mighty whip. I was hoping the Fury X would have been a monster and been beating out the Titan X.

MSI kinda dropped the ball with the 200 series but came back strong with the 300. EVGA are great, no argument there.

Ahh ok. Yeah back then I helped quite a few friends upgrade and the go to recommended card was the Sapphire Toxic 270x. Those 3 fans were sexy and it was right on top of the GTX 760 for lower price. Didn't even think to try any other budget based cards at the time as they were great value.

Defnetly higher than that, my single 280x plays most games at high, including far cry 4, gta v etc.
