people usually say that SLI is not for every game.

but between 980 ti and a 980, better get the 980 ti :D

I've always tried to stay away from SLI just because it adds another point of failure and SLI can be a pain in the ass at times.

If it were me, I'd aim for the 980ti and call it a day.

You don't know the whole story then. The issue is that every Maxwell chip except GM200 has no capability of handling A-sync since the scheduler is cheap and can't cope with it. Hence, no amount of drivers can fix it.

yeah like my 780ti is starting to struggle now, but I I can get a second one for £230, considering mine was like £600 when I bought it new, should give me another year or two with decent settings

and  then might do me in a second rig, or I can sell them, or make 2 rigs to sell etc

Or wait thirteen months and get a "whizzbang 1010"

Or wait eighteen months and get a "Yeehah 1020"

Or wait...

Can you see where this is going ?  You could wait forever or you could just pull the trigger get the best there is NOW and use that.

About the only time it is worthwhile to wait is if there is lots of talk about a new version being just around the corner.
