Gaming (everything ranging from arma to minecraft. Also schoolwork and programming
3. Monitors
starting with one 1080p monitor will move up to one 1440p or add another 1080p in the future.

4. Peripherals
yes but this budget is just for the pc.

5. Why are you upgrading?

I currently do not own my own high performance pc.

The 390x will help you in your transition to 1440p. Case is mostly up to personal preference, so feel free to buy something else if you don't like the one I picked. I just like the R4.

The 970 will probably be a layover gpu that may be switched out for the pascal architecture or another card if I move to 1440p.
