How should I upgrade this holiday season?

Hey all this is my first post here, so I will make it quick. I recently built a budget gaming rig, but I am feeling like it is lacking in gaming performance, so I plan to put in 300 dollars in upgrades. What I ask is that should I purchase an i5 4590 (160 at microcenter) and a gtx 950 or a I3 4170 and a r9 380? Thanks In advance!

i5 4460 + R9 380 is optimal

Out of the other options - I'd say i3 + R9 380 - I mean, 950 ain't worth it ._.
