I need advice on my first gaming PC

JCooper

I am getting my first gaming PC and I dont know what video card to get to go with my system

The specs at the minute are-

CORSAIR CARBIDE SERIES™ 200R COMPACT GAMING CASE
Processor (CPU) AMD FX-8320 Eight Core CPU (3.50GHz/8MB CACHE/AM3+)
Motherboard Gigabyte 970A-DS3P AM3+ (ATX, DDR3, USB 3.0, 6Gb/s)
Memory (RAM) 8GB KINGSTON DUAL-DDR3 1600MHz (1 x 8GB)
Graphics Card 4GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 970 - DVI, HDMI, mDP - 3D Vision Ready
2nd Graphics Card NONE
3rd Graphics Card NONE
1st Hard Disk 1TB 3.5" SATA-III 6GB/s HDD 7200RPM 32MB CACHE

Should i get the GEFORCE GTX 970 or the AMD Radeon R9 290??? I would get the GTX 980 but i dont have the money at the moment so i am just looking at these two CPU's.

If someone could help me out with this i would be very appreciative!

  Thankyou!

its not about modular or non modular

those prebuilt sites dont give you good options, it sucks... ok change of plans, get the cheapest POS they offer and then just buy your own either seasonic xfx or evga (g2 or gs series) and use the one they gave you as a doorstop

You should look into the r9 390, the cooling is a lot better and it beats the gtx 970. And even though you probably don't need it, it has 8gb of vram. Finally it is cheaper than the gtx 970 and you get more performance

it is easy

if you want a test, take the pc you have now (if you have one) take it apart and put it back together ... if you can do that you can build a pc. it really is very easy to do as long as you can follow instructions and take your time

plus.... that feeling you get when it posts the first time... so much better than the feeling you get opening up the box they shipped the prebuilt in and praying nothing broke in shipping

Corsair VS are EXTREMELY low quality and likely to kill a gaming PC
