can you list some IP data gathering tools either online or for download that you know of? i need to gather as much data as possible about my own ip to see if a hacker could find out where i live

@babadoctor, people can't find where you live through your IP, they can only find where the nearest ISP node is.

 

The only way for someone to find where you live with your IP, is if they had a warrant, and contacted your ISP.

lol why are you concerned about people finding out where you live?

you can google your ip and it will tell you the general area where you are, not an exact house though

The only way for someone to find where you live with your IP, is if they had a warrant, and contacted your ISP.

unless its the government, in which case they dont need a warrant :P but they already know where you live

Yes, they can. There are websites that steal your ips from other websites that steal your information after you purchase something. They steal your name and all of your information. etc spokeo.com

Nothing but gather information about an IP. As much of it as possible, thank you.

What information??

 

An IP isn't as such personal to you. You should be able to change it at any time. When people get caught pirating etc, it's a matter of the ISP seeing who had the IP at the given time.

this is true, but i have often wondered myself.

 

then again

 

careful use of tor browser renders you pretty much invisible to anyone pyring in, unless someone manages to convince you to click on a piece of JS that makes a connection that is outside of the tor network and thus traceable (hence tor screaming at you to turn javascript off)

or someone could post an IP tracking link << most likely wont work

OR

they could run a piece of malicious code that takes full control over the victims computer

And with those tools you're going to find the ISP who owns the scope that IP is part of. And maybe some information about a location that could be in the area.

You wanted to see if a hacker could find out where you live, and that won't ever happen with those tools. Only your ISP have that information.
