im interested in getting a tablet... i HATE laptops and the only thing i am willing to use is a tablet outside of desktops.

Is the Microsoft surface RT worth getting? or is the Pro the only worth getting?

if it isn't please suggest another tablet that has graphics drawing capability.

I wouldn't get the RT, mainly because of the fact you can only get 3rd party app from the microsoft app store.

ASUS and Samsung have pretty decent tablets (that are priced around $800-$900)

Maybe wait for a bit for Haswell chips to be implemented into the tables (not sure if they have yet)

I am also look for a good tablet, one with a good detachable keyboard, expand-ability, but on the other hand, I may find a cheaper and more powerful laptop that can fold completely over and become a tablet.

I got one after the price cuts and I have been very happy with it.  It has great battery life, which makes it awesome for streaming.

If you're looking for a tablet with stylus support, the only one I could recommend is the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1.

It's got a wacom-enabled screen with over a thousand levels of touch sensitivity, plus it comes bundled with a sort of tablet version of PhotoShop. It's also on Android, so you have access to a wealth of different drawing programs which are unavailable on either iOS or Windows.

I got one for this purpose, and the stylus support is excellent. Very responsive, very accurate - and some of the apps on the PlayStore which have S-Pen support are simply amazing. :)

I kinda want to get a surface pro for light C++ coding while on the go. I'm torn between an ultrabook or getting the next iteration of the surface if they make a Haswell one

they use a Tegra, so id assume there gonna wait for the Tegra 5/6 (Or equivilent) before releasing the next model

no i am considering getting the pro... i personally don't care about battery life. (id try and mod a solar cover to charge it up on the go... then i can pitch it to microsoft and make millions) "Evil laugh"

I don't think it's a bad value after the recent price cuts, especially since they include the basic office programs. However, that being said, android tablets offer similar options at similar or lower price points. Plus, for graphics work, the usability varies from tablet to tablet. I'd say the RT is about average in that area when compared to other tablets, with the Pro being one of the higher options since it supports full Windows 8 programs.

The Windows App Store (or whatever it's called) has the more mainstream apps, but it's still small compared to android and iOS.  If you can, I'd try browsing their selection to make sure they carry the applications you want to use.

The Surface Pro is also quite decent for graphics work as it comes with a stylus and Wacom digitizer. The RT does not offer this functionality however.

Surface RT? No, not even after the price cut. Tegra 3 is pretty crappy, Windows RT is crappy (next to no good apps), the screen isn't that great, it's fairly expensive still etc...

Surface Pro? Will soon be replaced by a much better Haswell version, which will have much better battery life and graphics performance.

Absolutely this.

I'm interested in seeing how the Surface Pro 2 turns out, should it exist.
