im stuck between the Ipad mini, Microsoft surface RT and the Google Nexus 7

Do you want iOS?

Then iPad Mini

Do you want Microsoft Office?

Then Windows RT

Do you want the best display? The fastest SoC? The lowest cost? The most customization/possibilities?

Nexus 7

Personally, I would take the Nexus 7 in a heartbeat, or wait for the Haswell based Surface Pro.

Then you want a laptop. Tablets are simply terrible as far as productivity goes. Not even writing anything more than a few sentences is practical or comfortable. Even the Surface Pro, which would be the second best thing after a laptop, is pretty bad as far as productivity goes. The keyboard isn't that great. If you really want a tablet, and want to use it for those things you listed, then I suggest waiting for the Haswell based Surface Pro.

If you just want it for media consumption like reading webpages, reading PDFs, watching movies etc, then get the Nexus 7. The only drawback with the Nexus 7 is that the screen is a bit on the small side. A lot of people love 7" tablets, but I find them to be too similar to my phone, which has a 5" display.

But why do you hate laptops? It seems like they would be the best choice for you. Like I said before, it is painful to do anything productive on a tablet, they are purely for media consumption (except if they have a dual digitizer and a good stylus, then you can draw on them as well).

If you're going to save up ~1500-2000 dollars, then I suggest the Haswell based Surface Pro instead. It will have the Wacom digitizer and pen so it should be really good for drawing and such. The Wacom tablet will probably be slightly better for drawing and such, but worse in every other regard.

I just don't think it's a good idea to buy an Ivy Bridge based tablet at this point in time, since Haswell based ones will probably be released fairly soon (maybe not a new Surface Pro, but some manufacturer will release a Haswell based tablet).

If you look at the review by Anandtech when they compare the new Haswell based Macbook Air, you see that the increase in battery life is huge, we are talking several hours longer. It's easy to say "wait for the next generation" all the time, but I think you will regret buying something for ~1500-2000 dollars when the next generation is so close.

Anyway, it's your money so I won't (and can't) stop you from buying whatever you want, but if it was my money I would wait for a Haswell tablet, or if it's just for media consumption I would get a Nexus 7.

I think its worth it after the price cuts, the cost for them was silly at first tbh kinda pissed me off as it ruined a potentially great product due to greediness. if you need something to work on here and there and play videos there totally awesome!
