I am looking to make a PC to fold 24/7.

Requirements:

-Small

-Quiet

I don't really want that high of a PPD, just something decent (around 250-1000PPD is fine)

Thanks! :D

can't you just set your current rig to medium/light

Its a new laptop and I get scared to run it through out the night, and im using it for 12 hours straight through out the day.

And I have the money and time to build a new rig so might as well!

Budget is around $250, a PSU is not needed, and any peripherals like monitors are not needed

Sorry - but that won't get you much. Look for a DIY kit at say newegg - board, cpu, ram and drive. Get the best (most expensive) kit you can. Voila, system... if not doing GPU folding, then make sure you run ubuntu or Linux...

Don't waste money on ram - Folding doesn't need it...

Cannot fold on the APU I think - and I believe 9600 series is minimum supported GPU...

Some can, most cannot - depends on the OpenCL support I believe, and faster ram doesn't help either. Just need enough to get booted, either into Windows or Ubuntu and fold away....
