Hey guys! So I'm currently attempting to build a portable computer, one that I can pick up and take to LAN parties and friends house and stuff like that. I don't have any experience making anything portable, so any advice is welcome. My max budget is roughly $900 US. Also is there anything that I should get to keep the gpu in place on the end opposite of the back of the case? And are there any cases you'd recommend with handles? Thanks!

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/gdLggs

My Build: i7-4790K, 212 Evo, Asus Maximus VI Extreme, Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB DDR3-1600, Intel 730 240GB SSD, WD Blue 1TB, EVGA GTX 980Ti ACX 2.0, NZXT H440 Blue/Black, EVGA 650W 80+Gold.

Most of the time, it's not the computer, it's the person using it.

The air 240 is pretty big btw.

This is what I would do. Total power and meets budget with ease. You could even buy a non-stock cooler to make it less loud.

So it's overclockable CPU vs. better GPU.

True, but I could redo your builds to get them under with ease. BX100 SSD, rosewell fully modular PSU that's 50 dollar's saved. Trim the ram down another 10, grab a PCS 4gb model for ~30 less and hell you are looking closer to 850 for that build.

Like so:

EDIT: didn't realize the length tolerances were so low on that first itx case...  PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

Ram that doesn't run so high voltage (not that I could possibly see that ram actually needing that voltage) is only like 2 dollars more.

And the second build you did:

CPU: Intel Core i5-4460 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($174.89 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: MSI H81I Mini ITX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($62.99 @ Directron)

I'm not exacly sure how I manage to do this... Well I didn't put an SSD inside, instead I went with as much performance you can get. I also added you option to overclock (with a beefer CPU cooler)

But you can pick one up for 50$ when you'll have the money and just simpley install it in pc :)
