So inspired by my own topic (http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/46577-building-a-nas-how-do-you-start-guide/), I decided to make myself a small NAS server with some components that I had laying around.

Components:

Case: Fractal Design Node 304, I did had to buy this one.

CPU: AMD E450, this one is integrated in to the motherboard.

Motherboard: Asus E45M1-I Deluxe, this is the board that was in my HTPC, before I upgraded.

RAM: 2x Kingston 4GB DDR3 1333MHz

NIC: Broadcom Dual Gigabit Nic

Power supply: Corsair CX500, might be a bit overkill, but it will work.

Boot drive: Kingston 8GB SSDNOW 100 S, I have no idea why I had this, but it will do.

Storage drives: 4x Western Digital 1TB WD10EACS

I will post the build log in the build log section once I start assembling.

What's the point of this thread? Just start a build log

I'm still waiting for my case to arrive, building without a case is quite hard you know.

Great I am thinking of making one also, I am looking for a good mobo and cpu combo, I was planning on using four seagate drives that I have in my house to make it.

Lol, DAT SSD.

But yeah, I'd say just turn this topic into a build log instead of making a duplicate in the right section and having it moved.

@Windspeed36 please move this topic to Build Logs.

If you ever need help with a build, read the following before posting: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/
