Hi guys what's the most I can get out of a PC in terms of gaming for 900 pound

(PC for a friend)

I was thinking

I5 4690k

Z97 mobo

650 superflow

2x4 gb ram 1600

Hyper evo 212

1tb western digital

R9 390

Corsair carbide spec 1 case

Cheep optical drive

Also needs a copy of windows

Any suggestions ?

Is the superflow 650 a superflower PSU? I have no idea what a superflow is.

That looks good. A 390 will be really good bang for the buck...

 

Try getting a cheap copy of windows 7 if you can and then use the free upgrade to windows 10.

These things are under £50 come on.

It may do, the SSD has much faster read/write speeds so you could load things in games faster.

$45USD for a 120gb SSD, find an equivalent and that's Plenty of space to put games on which will DEFINETELY affect performance.

Why not put games on the drive?  The OS doesn't take up 60gbs, which is as small as SSDs get that are worth getting.

id rather put more money into a gpu for him if I can make the money stretch

Ssd is something small he can add later

My boot drive was a £70 250 Gb model - I was able to get my 5 most played games on it.

I can't speak for anyone else but the type of games I play (MMO, Open-world style adventures/RPG, etc) are affected by being on an SSD to such a massive margin, I'll never go back to HDDs.

390x's are about 20-25% more expensive than a 390 BUT only offer about 5% more performance. So an x isn't worth it.
