i have a 600cxm and i need a straight up answer will it work?

It will work and I do like myself some fireworks but I don't like them touching my GTX 970.

In all seriousness get yourself an EVGA 550W GS and forget about it :)

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

It will work but I would not do it because its not a quality PSU when put together with high-end components like 970

Look at this PSU tier list someone made, its pretty good

I used a cx600m with my 4670k and gtx 970. About a month later I was sending both the cx600m and gtx 970 off for RMA.

Never trust a CX series with high end components.

The New Machine: Intel 11700K / Strix Z590-A WIFI II / Patriot Viper Steel 4400MHz 2x8GB / Gigabyte RTX 3080 Gaming OC w/ Bykski WB / x4 1TB SSDs (x2 M.2, x2 2.5) / Corsair 5000D Airflow White / EVGA G6 1000W / Custom Loop CPU & GPU

The Rainbow X58: i7 975 Extreme Edition @4.2GHz, Asus Sabertooth X58, 6x2GB Mushkin Redline DDR3-1600 @2000MHz, SP 256GB Gen3 M.2 w/ Sabrent M.2 to PCI-E, Inno3D GTX 580 x2 SLI w/ Heatkiller waterblocks, Custom loop in NZXT Phantom White, Corsair XR7 360 rad hanging off the rear end, 360 slim rad up top. RGB everywhere.

That's interesting. When you had asked "will it hold up? will i have any problems?", it left the impression that you are unaware of the quality of the unit. However, when you get an answer that you didn't like, you'd attacked them (which is now deleted). It seem like to me you already made up your mind that the CX600M would power your system; otherwise, you wouldn't have said "you shouldnt worry" to Josh.

Anyways, the MSI GTX 970 Gaming had shown to draw up to 213wDC by itself (measure at the PCIe slot and PEG power cable) during Furmark. On gaming load of Metro: Last Light, it's 168wDC average and 192wDC peak. While the CX600M certainly isn't the best build power supply (it is an entry level power supply), it should be able to power that.

I can say from experience, the CX600M will fail when powering a system that has both a 970 and a relatively demanding CPU. The initial killer of my PSU was my overclocked QX9650. The nail in the coffin happened several weeks after with my 4670k and higher ambient temperatures as we entered early summer.

I have the replacement currently powering an i3 3240 and 7870 combo. It has overheated twice so far and will be replaced soon.

Well, if a mass-produced piece of electronics is fail-proof, then there would not be any need for a warranty. I've own and seen a few Seasonic units failed on me. There was also an EVGA G2 unit that went out in a bang with a large arc coming out from the back which was recorded and posted on youtube (which had been taken down after it had gotten RMA). Of course, these were not flaw designed PSUs, in which in the grand scheme of things, the number of failures in comparison to the number sold is quite small.

A review from TPU had show that the CX600M is capable of outputting it's rated wattage continuously at ambient temperatures of 45C (15C beyond what it is rated for) while maintaining ATX specification in progressive load regulation and ripple suppression. Of course, due to it being a group regulated design, it's voltage regulation isn't very good, which is to be expected. In accordance to Jonnyguru (who is Technical Marketing Manager for Corsair), the RMA rate of the CX series is still less than 1%, as well as Jeremy / Oklahoma Wolf (one of the two current reviewer of JG) didn't felt that it was "risky" to power a 970 system on a CX500M either.

However, I don't approve of using an entry level, group-regulated power supply that's rated for 30C in a gaming rig that probably cost up to $1000, especially when you like can find a better PSU within the same price range. For such a system, I would try to recommend an something like the Cooler Master G450M/550M, or Fractal Design Integra M 450/550w at the very least.

So i have a 600cxm and i need a straight up answer no dipshit or smartasses thx

As long as gaming sessions are short - probably not.

As soon as your case heats up you will probably start having issues.
