Hey guys,

I recently downloaded Crysis 2 again. After downloading it over Origin I had to download and install patch 1.9, which worked fine.

But now everytime I want to start the game I get the following error message:

"Crysis 2 doesn't work anymore"

I already tried to run it in compatibility mode under Win XP and Win 7 and I also tried to run it as an administrator. Both of which didn't work.

I also read something about problems with overclocked NVidia GPUs. So I set both of my cards to default, but that also didn't help.

My NVidia drivers are also up to date.

System specs:

  • i5-4670
  • 16GB RAM
  • 2x GTX 980 SLI
  • ASUS Z97 Sabertooth Mark S
  • AX760i

Hopefully someone has an idea of what's going on

Hmm, try to install it ouside of origin?

Because well there is some problems with C2 since they removed the multiplayer. (Or well Gamespy was shut down wich fucked up the MP. You can certain servers though beacuse some people have done a lot of work to setup servers without gamespy.)

Support for Crysis 2 was dropped - try steam but Origin one might be dead for good.

There are a lot of games which aren't supported anymore, but they should still run.

I can run the game without Origin, but that doesn't help, too. I even managed to get NFS: Underground to run on my system in 3440x1440, so Crysis 2 shouldn't really be a problem.

Well since they dropped the support it has been damn hard to get it working. You will probably have to try to reinstall it a couple of time. Maybe do regestry edits and such. But first I would go to the Crysis/cryengine forums. Maybe even check the Crysis 3 anti hack unit site (Those guys got it running and arranged a Crysis 2 weekend "for old times sake" a few months ago)

Thanks.

But I don't want to invest that much time into getting this crap to run. If it doesn't want to run I'll simply leave it at that and uninstall it again.

Reinstalling it isn't an option with my crappy internet.

On steam it works - cause it uses Steam servers. Not sure about Origin. Multiplayer is inaccessible anywhere tho.

Crysis 2's singleplayer doesn't need any additional software to run.

It doesn't matter if you bought the game over Steam or Origin.
