Asus has announced their upcoming ITX board for their ROG line up, the Maximus VIII Impact. When it comes to overclocking the Maximus VIII Impact can do so via BCLK and is capable of going as high as 400MHz BCLK, but that also depends on your cpu and cooling solution. To help with such a high OC, the board comes with a Power Impact III, a daughter board mounted vertically, that house the full delievery power system you'll find only ATX boards For this power daughter board, this board isn't the first to have it. Other Asus board has it too, like Z87i Deluxe, Maximus VI Impact and VII Impact.

Going from a ITX to a fully size ATX board, the other board from Asus ROG line up is the Maximus VIII Extreme. And here we have a non ROG board that's also ITX, the Z170I Pro Gaming. Supports Intel Skylake cpus like the Core i5 6600K and Core i7 6700K, 32GB of DDR4 @ 4,000MHz (o.c) max. 4x SATA 6Gb/s ports with 2 of them part of SATA Express, a M.2 slot that's located at the bottom of the board, 802.11AC, Bluetooth 4.1, Inte1 gigabit lan, USB 3.0, no type C, and a single PCIe 3.0 x16 slots for your graphic card.

*RGB as in just red, green, and blue to color code the audio jacks (red=mic, blue=line in, green=speaker out)
**PCIe x16 lane configuration for the Asus Maximus VIII Extreme,
-single @ x16
-dual @ x8
-triple @ x8/x8/x4
-quad @ x8/x8/x4/x4
Yep no 3 nor 4-way SLI on this board and there is definitely no PLX chip

I already did, lmao. It's just sad that Intel couldn't implement more lanes in the "lower end" processors.

Their WS model might support it, if it ever exist

The Maximus VIII Hero run on a Intel Z170 chipset. Is there a "Z170 Hero" then no.

Am I the only one interested most by the pro gaming board? Probably would be my preferred board for ITX since I don't push for big overclocks but still want a decent board that won't cost a fortune (at least I hope this one won't)

Now only if Asus fixed their Z170 line-ups driver issues, the ROG forum is littered with people complaining about their setups freezing and having audio issues, just like me.

Spoiler

Case Bitfenix Ghost, Mobo Asus Maximus VIII Ranger, CPU i7 6700K @4.2 Ghz cooled by Arctic cooling Freezer i30, (barely). GPU Nvidia GTX 970 Gigabyte G1 @1519Mhz core, RAM 16Gb Crucial Ballistix CL16 @2400Mhz. SSD 128GB Sandisk Ultra Plus as my OS drive. HDD's  1TB  Seagate ST31000524AS its OEM, 3TB Seagate Barracuda, 2x 500GB WDC Blue (RAID 0)

If it isn't working absolutely perfectly, according to all your assumptions, it is broken.
