ASUS Tech Support on ZF2 Android Updates...

Currently the latest version of android available for the Zenfone 2 is 5.0 (unless you use CM), which I find strange seeing how 5.1 is released, and has been for quite a while, and now 6.0 is released too...

 

I called up the ASUS Tech Support to ask them about it, and tl;dr they said that they can't give an estimate on when the phone will receive it as they have to wait for google to send them the update for the device...

 

I'm fairly sure that it's up to ASUS to make the required changes to the OS for their devices, not google.. (Google has to release the new version of android, but asus should have to customize it or whatever for their devices)

 

 

Anyone able to inform me a little better on this subject? Interested in hearing what you guys think about it. (Seeing how android 5.1 was released back in feburary, and the zenfone 2 ze551ml was released in around march, I'm surprised that it didn't get launched with 5.1 on it.. even more shocking to me that it still doesn't have 5.1 available except through CM...)

it is up to asus. i have a feeling asus just decided to skip 5.1 and is going straight for 6.0.

 

i will be really disapointed if asus does not update becasue the zenfone 2 has killer hardware with a let down software. so if it gets 6.0 the zenfone 2 will be even stronger or the zenfone 3 would be gr8

I read somewhere that they do plan on going to 6.0 which is why they did skip 5.1. They did fix the battery issue which I'm happy about. I remember getting like 3 updates within 2 weeks in September. So it will come, just whenever it does.

No, I still don't have 5.1 on the zenfone 2, I said that 5.1 was released in february.. (like how android 6.0 was released a few days ago)

After around 15 hours of being off the charger (I put it on for like 20 minutes earlier, but that didn't increase the battery level much) I'm sitting at a decent 43% battery left (approx 10 hours left according to the phone) and 43% of the 57% that was used, was by the android OS...

 

So yeah, once that's fixed, I'm hoping to see at least 60%+ after a day of use or so.

yeah, i can honestly see it being 2 day battery life afterwards. who knows, maybe its just a common app that everyone uses that drains battery like twitter, however i doubt it
