Huge never-ending problem...

Ok...where to begin? So for a few years now we've been paying for 10Mb (or whatever its called) speeds for $60 USD (insanely priced) and everything was running at the speeds it should for a few years. At the beginning of summer of this year and STILL TO THIS DAY the speeds are like 5Mb during the day and less than 1Mb during the night which is complete BULLSHIT. I have tried everything. I've called them numerous times explaining the problem and they just have me do a few speed tests and send it up through their different "tiers" of engineers or whatever. They never got back with me for 2 months so I had to force them by making the senior tech MAKE them look at it. They just sent out a guy and said "Well...the speeds are running better than before". I went on speedtest later that day to see if they really fixed the problem...they didn't. So I called them to ask what was the real problem. They said something about how the access points are getting clogged up which sounded like more bullshit. 

 

I've also tried a VPN to see if they are throttling the speeds. I bought one, and turns out they're not. 

 

I've no clue what to do at this point. It's not like I can threaten legal action or anything because the gov't is basically in their back-pockets. 

 

Oh and one last thing -- I live rural. So the company I'm with is all that there is. There is no way out. If anyone has any ideas of what to do to fix the problem..PLEASE. TELL ME. (sorry you had to read a lot)

Have you tried threatening to switch to a different company, even though you know it's not feasible?

 

Also the 10Mb is probably an 'up to' speed, but I can understand why you'd be upset if they were to deliver far less all of a sudden.

I live out in the country and we only have one sip that teachers out their they throttle a lot of people because they know they can't switch, happens to me a lot I get 20 up and 50 down and some days I'll get 1 up and 5 down. Noting I can really do about it

the router could be throtteling a lot - this was one time the case with mine (it caused problems with the damping of the signal)

well make a technitian LOOK when you are doing the speed test and SHOW them what you are getting, also log into your router and see if your getting 10mbit to the router even, if not its there line to your house that has degraded/ taking more trafic or something like that

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Yeah they don't give a shit. 

 

And yes, it's fast enough I can do everything at that speed. But we're being charged so much for so little now.
