a sprinkler waters a lawn in a circular motion. It's radius is 15 ft. The lawn is a square and has sides of 12 ft. how much does the sprinkler over water?

thats simple..put a circle inside a square and you have your answer basically

 logic would dictate your wasting a lot of water, but I woudl go for the straightforward answer of 9ft on all sides. This seems like a trick question.

if they are asking for area that would make sense to find the area of the sprinkler water minus the area of the square lawn, but yeah seems kind of open ended there.

Find the area of the square then find the area of the circle that the sprinkler sprinkles in. After that subtract the area of the square from the area of the circle. That's what I got from it anyway.

The difference between the area watered and the area of the lawn is the answer.

(3.14*15^2)-(144)=area watered that isn't lawn.
