I usually don't turn on my pc for over 5 hours and I am planning to overclock. I also don't want my psu to get on fire. And I've heard that those corsair cx is tier 4, but should I risk fire hazard for going for a cheap psu? Please help!

Don't get Corsair CX. Please. If the PSU goes, it could take one other part, or the entire PC.

Get something like EVGA G2/B2 (Make sure you don't get G1/B1, those are bad), any XFX/Seasonic, or Antec High Current Gamer 520w or 620w.

Gold rated doesn't worth the price

but then again, even bronze rated price now a bit expensive

although, I never purchased anything higher than 550w

I treat PSU as expendable item, not something that would last forever (or at least long enough)

just get something from reputable company at decent price

unless you are using multi GPU, getting 500w+ PSU is really not necessary.

PSU is not something you should cheap out on. While the CX series won't blow up like a lot of people believe, it is low quality and much more likely to die than other PSUs in a similar price range.

Have a look at Antec's High Current Gamer series for a good value PSU. EVGA B2 series, as well as any SeaSonic, Delta or Superflower PSU are also good. XFX is good as well, as they're SeaSonic units.

The thing with the Corsair CX series, is that there are some really bad ones, I was lucky to get a CX500M v3, which is said to be better than the first versions, either way I will replace its cheap Chinese caps with better ones.

The thing with PSUs it that you shouldn't get a crappy unit as if it fails it may take the rest of the system with it.
