Hey all, So here's what's been happening, For some reason my disk usage is pegged at around 100% all the time. The highest user of it is the "Antimalware Service Executable, which I believe is related to Windows Defender. Anyone know what's going on? This may be impacting my RAM usage as well, because it is always pretty high after about an hour of startup.

Thanks!

EDIT- That "Windows Host Process" every now and then jumps to alot of usage, so I know that that's not the problem. Doesn't happen often.

well you can do a clean install and that would instantly fix it

or you can try just leaving it for a few days, install all windows updates, fix any reported problems, then see if it still happens

Googling around... nothing concrete..

Something you could 'test'

Disable Superfetch as a service, reading around, reports of high memory usage and even 100% disk thrashing.

Disable, reboot, do your normal business, see if its the same.. if the same, re-enable it and restart, finding that its NOT the problem is just as helpful.

Dying HDDs often show this behaviour. Due to the amount of CRC fails and bad blocks they get super slow and are maxed out all the time.

Is the drive performaing as usual?

On the other hand it could also be a software related issue and the hardware is fine.

You can try disabling Window Defender Real Time scanning and install a free AV like AVAST.
