290 is better price/performance.

970 is better in general. Except drivers. nVidia has really bad drivers.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

His 970 is better, but only marginally better. Maybe 5% tops.

The best 970 is a Windforce, while the best 290 is the Vapor-X.

The GTX 970 4GB is better, I'd say gigabyte for brand, and the best amd r9 290 brand is sapphire

If it were my own money it would be the 290 as long as I had good airflow in my case. However I would be slightly happier to see a nice Windforce 970 in my stocking at Christmas. A 390/970 would be a different story though.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

970 out performs the normal 290. It trades blows with the 290x (usually winning).

And what's this about drivers? Nvidia had like 2 bad drivers after they had a change with how G-Sync works, haven't had a problem since then...

Just remember: Random people on the internet ALWAYS know more than professionals, when someone's lying, AND can predict the future.

Why do you say nvidia has bad drivers. Nvidia seems to have better support for me(quadro 5000).

I have a 780. Drivers are horrible.

Played bf4 earlier today, not even 6 hours later (nothings changed) they stop working n BF4 is always crash.

Multimonitor drivers are trash. IDK tho. You have a fancy card, might be different for you

As I stated above, there are many issues. This forum just downplays it because we're shills for Nvidia.

Multi monitor is crap on there side. I've had friends having problems with games and they contacted the support and the support straight up told them that it was Nvidias drivers that were the issue.

Multimonitor is what I personally can't let go of, considering I use 3* monitors.

Never had an issue with Nvidia drivers or multi monitor support. As for crashes that is definitely something on your side.

I've had so many problems with multidisplay drivers. Screens randomly go black, All screens go black when alt-tab etc.

OFC anyone on this forum will play it off as the users fault because they all suck nvidias cock so hard.

Jayz2cents has stated his frustration with them before I think. If I remember correctly he straight up told them when he met their engineers that they needed to "fix their damn drivers".

I think he mentioned it one of the tech talks, he has similar problems to me I believe.

BF4 is VERY picky about overclocks so if you have another example or don't oc let me know

All is running stock. I know it's picky.

I used to test my OCs in it, not a good idea lol.

Some people have problems with drivers from both sides, and a lot of people don't. I've owned multiple cards from both Nvidia and AMD and never really had any problems with either. But you can't really say one is better than the other. It's pretty even when it comes to other people bitching about drivers from both.

From what I've heard AMD has fixed their drivers up really good.

I (and apparently a lot of people) have had troubles with recent Nvidia drivers (for me mainly W10)

I'm running 15.9.1 right now and it's been flawless for me so far.

I actually had to rollback my Nvidia drivers lol.

Still hasn't fixed problem fully.

Wouldn't know from experience but I've heard a lot of people having problems. Haven't used an Nvidia card since 2013.

TBH if AMD/RTG had shadowplay like thing I would switch as soon as I had the money/space for a nice high end card.
