Reccomended overclock with AMD FX 9590

Go to solution Solved by Morgan MLGman,

The only sensible 8 cores from AMD are 8320 and 8350, the 9XXX series is retarded

I am planning on building a computer pretty soon, and I was wondering what was the max/recommended overclock any of you have gotten on a AMD FX 9590? (I'm air cooling with a Cooler Master Hyper T4 heat sink)

You need water cooling for that chip and proper board or else you got a fire

A Hyper T4 won't cool that chip stock, let alone overclocked. And there's no point in buying an FX 9590 anyways, it's 3 year old technology (that was unremarkable to start with) with a clockspeed boost.

Main Rig: CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X | RAM: 32GB (2x16GB) KLEVV CRAS XR RGB DDR4-3600 | Motherboard: Gigabyte B550I AORUS PRO AX | Storage: 512GB SKHynix PC401, 1TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus, 2x Micron 1100 256GB SATA SSDs | GPU: EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra 10GB | Cooling: ThermalTake Floe 280mm w/ be quiet! Pure Wings 3 | Case: Sliger SM580 (Black) | PSU: Lian Li SP 850W

Server: CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 3100 | RAM: 32GB (2x16GB) Crucial DDR4 Pro | Motherboard: ASUS PRIME B550-PLUS AC-HES | Storage: 128GB Samsung PM961, 4TB Seagate IronWolf | GPU: AMD FirePro WX 3100 | Cooling: EK-AIO Elite 360 D-RGB | Case: Corsair 5000D Airflow (White) | PSU: Seasonic Focus GM-850

Miscellaneous: Dell Optiplex 7060 Micro (i5-8500T/16GB/512GB), Lenovo ThinkCentre M715q Tiny (R5 2400GE/16GB/256GB), Dell Optiplex 7040 SFF (i5-6400/8GB/128GB)

A hyper t4 cannot sustain that chip at stock speeds. You need a high end liquid cooler or very high end air cooler to get any sort of overclock on it.

There is truly no way in hell that CPU cooler will attempt to cool that demon.

Don't get the FX 9590. It's pretty garbage as well as the entire line of FX CPU's except when on a heavy budget.

You should just nab a Xeon if you want hella cores. Or even an i7 if you want.

NEVER GIVE UP. NEVER STOP LEARNING. DONT LET THE PAST HURT YOU. YOU CAN DOOOOO IT

It's already overclocked about as far as it can go from the factory. It'll be TDP/voltage-limited out of the box, and as the others said, a poor little Hyper T4 will probably just melt over a 220 Watt CPU.
