CPU: 6700K vs 5820K

5820K by a longshot

rendering likes cores and threads - the 5820K has 2 extra cores and 4 extra threads. Gaming wise - no real difference.

They are very similar, but what are the advantages of each for gaming and editing.

6700k for gaming 5820k for rendering

Not really, 6700k has no advantage in gaming over the 5820k whatsoever, they perform exactly the same while the 5820k is just more powerful overall and is a better CPU

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT 16GB GDDR6 Motherboard: MSI PRESTIGE X570 CREATION
AIO: Corsair H150i Pro RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 32GB 3600MHz DDR4 Case: Lian Li PC-O11 Dynamic PSU: Corsair RM850x White

The 6700k is part of a newer platform, but in most cases the 5820k will be better at multitasking. If you only plan on playing games the 6700k will overclock much higher, but if you plan on recording/broadcasting them or editing videos later on, the 5820k may be a better option.

Yeah but it does not matter at all, you'll get a 1-2 fps difference AT BEST if any at all, why would you take it the over a simply more powerful CPU ;-;

5820k is more expensive though

So if you are on a budget, get 6700k

like i said 6700k for gaming and 5820k for video editing if you are gaming you dont need the extra cores and lower gaming performance and its more expensive

It's only slightly more expensive, if 6700k brings no advantages over 5820k in a real world use whether it's gaming or editing it's worth to add these 30$ to get a more powerful and more futureproof CPU.
