BF3 using 80-100% of 3570k

BlackOutCrisis

So all of a sudden (after AMD 13.8 driver update) bf3 has been using 80-100% of my cpu for no reason. It used to be like 60% max and in the 80's while playing AND streaming. Anyone seen this before and maybe have a fix? I think it could be the new driver putting more work on my CPU but I'm not entirely sure why it would do that so I would like to get more opinions before and revert back to 13.6.

Edit* specs are

3570k @ 4.3Ghz

MSI z77a g45

MSI tf3 7950 1100/1500

8gb Corsair Vengeance

Corsair CX750m

It shouldn't matter what your CPU usage is. When i play a map with a ton of players my CPU usage on my 3570K is high but it doesn't slow it down.

Have you checked task manager to make sure it's 100% from BF3 usage?

Yes I've checked task manager to double check it is bf3, I've closed everything else to make sure also. Well I would like to be able to stream bf3 but with it acting like this I won't and it does cause me stuttering when I hit the 100% mark.

The only thing i can think of is your CPU might be running at a lower clock speed. Is your CPU throttling its clock speed or do you have any power saving features enabled?

What do you mean? When I filter by CPU when playing the only other thing besides bf3 is TeamSpeak which is using 1%.

I've checked my CPU when I had it closed but forgot to while it was running, I will check that real quick and see but I don't know why it would be doing it all of a sudden.

Nope, just checked. Cpu is still running at 4.3Ghz.

I was really hoping I would have to do that. I honestly think it is the 13.8 drivers causing this though.

Your system could be unstable if its overclocked or your heatsink could be poorly seated on.

Are 13.8 beta drivers? Sorry i don't use AMD or keep up with AMD stuff. I know they have new beta drivers that fix frame latency issues but they are not perfect and have a ton of bugs. Consider using a older display driver and checking CPU usage.

It isn't my CPU being unstable, It has been running with these exact settings everything for months in bf3 and every other game I play. And yes they are the new ones that fix frame latency and that is what I planned on doing I just wanted to get some other peoples opinion's first.

yeah man, revert that sheet. that's beta catalyst drivers for you, although I had the same problem on some Nvidia beta drivers a while back as well only for some reason it was my graphics card going on full load when opening solitaire lol

Reverted back to 13.6 drivers which I previously had no issues with and still having the problem (yes I did a proper uninstall and reinstall). This is really frustrating me :(

Streaming with an I5 isn't gonna cut it (at a watchable resolution), I tried.

Sorry that you had a bad experience with it? Mine can handle every game I've thrown at it while streaming until now with this new issue which I haven't tried streaming. Only used to use 80% of my 3570k while playing/streaming bf3 at the same settings it is at now.

hmm, that sure is strange, try creating (trust me it sounds silly but do this) a new user on windows and test your game on that.

if it works I can help you move everything from your old account to that one. (aside from the wallpaper, save that as a theme to re-apply it)

actually I think it may have been your card holding you back, I can stream alright. haven't done so lately though since time is a factor as well as network and my network is capped now.

That is definitely going to be my very very very absolute last option lol. I'm going to delete and reinstall bf3 and see if that fixes it.

It's really not that hard, but give everything you can a shot since your problem can be almost anything.

keep us updated on what's happening.
