Are these speakers (Z523) good for someone who lives in a college apartment?

I've been using these speaker for about four years now, they have pretty good sound quality and have a good range of bass. The sound quality does tend to fall apart in the last 15% or so of the volume range but if you're going to be in an appartment that shouldn't ever be an issue. I paid $100 for mine and I think that it was a good buy, for $55 I think it's an excellent buy.

get them, looks good, price is nice, seems good, only thing that worries me is that they might be so good that they are too loud :)

They should be more than good enough. I used Genius GX 2.1 system that had 38W RMS and it was very loud for both of my apartments. :)

I mean, they are Logitech speakers.

That said, I'm not sure you could get better for this price

They're $100 speakers on sale from a generally decent company. No point in over-thinking this.
