Best video/audio calling application?

My friends and I have been using Google Hangouts to chat while gaming due to the fact that you can make various groups and name them depending on the game/who plays it, but we've been having various issues with it. What other VOIP services would you recommend that have good audio quality and group talk capabilities?

Well, unless you want to pay then hangouts is pretty much the best for video.

 

For VOIP services, you can look into Teamspeak 3, Razer coms, mumble, and dare I say skype. 

 

I'd rec teamspeak if you can get a server for it, or skype if you don't want to setup servers, or any of that crap; just know skype is buggy as all hell.

probably something like teamspeak or razer comms. 

i guess you could try skype too, tough i don't really like it. overall a very laggy experience. (atleast, to me it was)

I'm following this now, beacuse I don't know any but skype and really think skye is no that good. I am however interested in the other answers

Razer Comms was good with the time I've used it, currently I'm experimenting with Dolby Axon, and so far it's pretty good, assuming you can get past it's weird-looking UI.

TS3 or Mumble, there are plenty of free to use community servers where you can just join your own channels.
