Well, this is my first post on this forum, and the reason is, I  dont know if my PC is dying or just a component.

I bought an XPS 8500, like 3-4 years ago, and when I switched to PC Gaming, I did a little research, then swapped the PSU and the GPU, current ones are PNY GTX 970 and a 750W PSU (Corsair), the problem is when I turn on the PC after the BIOS load and just before the Windows screen appears, it shows a white screen with some little squares with several colors, like an old tv with bad air signal, then it does nothing, I have to turn it off with the power button and turn the pc on again, then it posts like nothing, this does not happens always, but of course I am concerned about it.

Other issue I'm having, although I'm not sure if it is related or not, while Im playing BF4 the game crashes, first the screen change to a solid color, depending on the predominant one (If im playing in a map with a lot of green grass then the crash screen has a solid random green color), then a crash message appears, right now I dont have a screenshot of the error message (Sorry about that, I'll post one the next time it happens) saying like "Error *********************** device removed", (Before thinking Im an idiot for not have searched for that error before posting this, I had, but there are a lot of similar errors so I need to see first what is my exact error message).

I almost forgot to say this: With BF4 I do GPU OC, EVGA Precision X Soft, +200 MHz, +56 mV , I keep temps ok, so that is not the problem. Also I do the OC with MGSV and it doesnt crash, not even a frame drop. (Really good game)

*The same effect of the solid color happens while playing Skyrim, but it does not crash, it just freezes for about 3 seconds then it recovers to normal.

I hope my explanation is understandable, no native english speaker here, so thanks.

Most likely the GPU is what is dying.

If it's not, then it could be a driver issue. Have you tried uninstalling and re-installing the driver ?

Use this to fully uninstall it

http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

But ideally, before doing any sort of troubleshooting, undo any overclocking that you've done.

rma the GPU its called artifacting, like you explained you get weird patches of squares and shows different colors, freezes etc. the BGA becomes weak and crackes becuase of the cycles of hot and cooling and also thanks to RoHS, so..... RMA the GPU .

Well, I play Skyrim without any OC, Its done by software so its not a permanent BIOS OC, I'll try the full driver uninstall solution thanks.

I'll try the drivers options, thanks, as I said, it is an XPS 8500 so I only have one PCI E slot. LoL

Dont say that to me :(, I'll take that one as a last resort. Thanks.

idk if i can answer only in spanish, sorry if im breaking any rule :P

The general accepted practice is to use google translate and paste whatever you say in both languages.

I never would have guessed; you speak better English than most native speakers I know.

Also, I would agree, attempt to return the GPU for repair or replacement.

Troubleshooting a pc will make you believe in gremlins.
