Which brand GPU to you use?

NVidia. For the sole reason it was the highest tier card I could get that wouldn't require me to get a new power supply.

I use a GTX 650 2GB becuase it was what i could afford at the time of upgrading my pre-built hp crap.... I just got some money and i am going to buy a R9 390 and a Fractal Design Define R5

Nvidia with the 970 probably would have gone 390 however I wanted to play MGS:V and it was free and that pushed me over the nvidia side, the 3.5GB(.5 slower) is not really an issue, with games like batman arkham knight going upto 4.4GB utilization of VRAM I don't see what the whole problem was. From what I saw from a late jayztwocents video about it only really shadow of mordor had an issue and that was with their insane textures and DSR i think. As long as the devs program the game properly there will be no issue for another 3 or 4 years probably. /buyers remorse.

I've had great experiences with four AMD laptops and a system with an FX-4100 and a 7850.

Depends. High end -nvidia (gtx 980-ti-titan x). mid range amd (390-380). low budget, it depends strictly from the budget.
