Which Linux distro to choose?

Whadda you mean? Why shouldn't be try Mint?

for security reasons as he said. I really only used mint because it was easy to setup and java was already installed, but if you really care about security then mint isn't the way to go.

Haven't kept track but aren't we on 15.04 now? Haven't those issues been addressed?

It's actually based on Ubuntu, so I wouldn't go with it.

There is both a Debian and Ubuntu base for Mint now.

If you clicked the link - its actually a distro called Korora - which is packaged in a variety of environments/xscreens. He just happened to link to the KDE one which he uses in particular.

It's been a few days, but I have tried ChaletOS from my earlier post and it's very smooth. It has great customization options while not being too confusing for a linux newbie. It even has conky preinstalled. (a nice little desktop clock/ system monitor). I actually plan on switching to it during my next refresh.
