It means held in place / stuck to.

Eg: If someone knocks you to the ground and holds you in place, you are "pinned" to the ground.

:)

When it comes to the forums, it just means that the thread is always on display at the top of the forum it's in so that it is easier to find.

Pinned means that it will always be at the top of the list of threads.

Threads are sorted in order of last activity, so if you make a reply on a thread, that thread will jump to the top of the list. This rule does not apply to pinned threads because they are always on top. Mods can pin threads they want. They usually do so if they feel like the thread is either very important (like forum rules) or if it's a very very common thread (decreases the risk of having multiple of the same thread, like "show off your setup".

why do people always keep reposting the same comments? there is a few people here with some decent explenations so il let them go, but aside from that you always see 4-5 people in a row answering the exact same thing ignoring what has been said before, if someone asks about a build you will have 10 people who say 16 gigs is to much and you should only get 8 gigs of ram .. and then you will have 15 more people telling you the psu is overkill, and when said person tells them he wants it for whatever reason, he will have 6 more people telling him he doesn't need it . Same goes for people asking easy questions like this, when many people can answer it they all say the same thing, what is the point? take into consideration what has been said before, before you answer a thread.

And this is far from the only examples out there.

I thought id post again to increase my post count because I was unsure if the first answers had been seen yet or got the point across, even though the question is very simple and the elready existing answers are satisfactory. Post farming for the win.

Seriously guys. I saw this thread had no posts, I posted and as my page refreshed Samdb had posted aswell. Everyone who posted after that...you guys need to stop post farming. There are 7 posts above me and nowTobben is complaing aswell.

And this is far from the only examples out there.

Often by the time you finish typing up your reply, 4 other people post 5 seconds before you and you don't see the posts until you post.  It's just a consequence of having such a large community.

And in some cases it makes sense to have more than one person recommend the same thing.  I'd be more inclined to buy a product if 10 people recommend it as opposed to just 2 people.

And this is Off-Topic anyway so post farming is irrelevant.

that is such a shallow excuse, the entire forum is plagued by it, it's all over the place when there is about 10 minutes from the first post there's no excuse let alone several hours or even days.

this thread is far from the worst example, it's not even a bad case of it, people just repeat the exact same thing that has been said 10 times before over and over, ofcourse it's a problem.

i said nothing about post farming, and having several people reccomending the same product is a different thing entierly, you are going off tracks here, look at my post above. There really are no excuses, ofcourse there are some exceptions there will always be exceptions in everything and some excuses count for certain cases, but that doesn't nearly account for all the cases, the fact is that people are simply spamming things that have been said 15 times before ignoring previous messages.

So you would rather have no answers or have 5 of the same answer? I personally like having multiple answers, cuz that ensures that its correct. Also i dont want to write a comment, and then refresh to see if anyone posted the same thing, and then write it again. Anyways this is in the off topic section, so you wont get any posts from it.
