Motherboard swap question

Hi. I am going to swap my motherboard from an MSI 970A-G43 to a MSI B85 Gaming M3. Do I need to backup windows or have my product key ready to swap motherboards, or will it work fine with just swapping it and putting on new drivers

PC is Intel Core i5 6400, GIgabyte H170 Gaming 3, Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x4GB 2400Mhz ,Sandisk Ultra Plus 128GB, WD Blue 1TB, NZXT S340, ASUS Geforce GTX 960. Fractal Design Tesla R2 650W. http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/793XNG. Graphics card choices don't always have to be dictated on performance. If you want the game stream and power consumption of the GTX 970 get that. If you want raw performance of the R9 390 get that. In the end we are all gamers, so what if your buddy gets an extra 5 fps?

You have to call Microsoft to activate it again.

 

Tell them that you've changed your motherboard, they'll help you activate.

If both have a UEFI BIOS then you only need to re-install chipset...

windows will MOST LIKELY ask for a re-activation, just have your key ready and you're good to go.

Windows will give you (i think) 20days to proceed to re-activation.

?? what? no...i swapped from intel to AMD and back to intel and i NEVER had to do a clean install of windows?!

it changes ABSOLUTELY nothing as far as i'm concerned, everything is up to snuff in my machine an i run the same install of windows 8.1 64bits pro.

re-installing this would be 100% complete waste of time.

?! why would you say that...i uninstalled everything related to AMD CHipset, than did fresh instal of all the drivers the new board wanted...it run 100% perfect.
