They chose to have the latest updates available from Microsoft.  So yes, yes they did.

You know people used to defend of Windows because you had control over things (Without the steep learning curve of customizing Linux) so I must ask: if Microsoft decides on all my upgrades, what I can and cannot do, etc. Why do most folk stay on windows instead of moving to say, OSX?

Should be interesting to hear about the lawsuits that come from Microsoft pushing people over data limits.

I wonder if Microsoft will need to pay the affected people anything.... (also-still Windows Vista post last updates/bug fixes FTW).

It's not really "without permission" if you agree to getting updates automatically. It is a shitty move though. Microsoft is being extremely aggressive to get people over to Windows 10.

Just further proves that their retarded decision to remove user control over updates is very bad for the users. They will use everything they can to fuck their customers over.

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

If you get a car, that has a warranty, and the car has a malfunction they can VERY WELL choose to just give you a newer model.

 

And this is, keep in mind, 100% CHOSEN BY THE USER.  Windows doesn't automatically do this on its own.  The user made the conscious decision (usually when they turn the machine on for the first time) to turn automatic updates on.  And keep in mind, it doesn't actually install the Windows 10 update immediately, you still have to choose for the update to go through.  It simply downloads it.  Also, there is a setting in Windows that makes sure that updates don't download over a metered connection. (at least if you have Windows 8)

If you take your car to be serviced because it is faulty, they are in full rights to just give you the same model car as a replacement.  When my transmission went out in my Chrysler that's what happened.  (It destroyed the transmission, drive shaft, engine, and radiator)  They are in full rights to replace your vehicle.

 

But even replacing your vehicle isnt the same idea, because that would be replacing your entire computer.  The best analogy would be them replacing your stereo in your car or something.
