They use the same exit signs that are standard in Japan

Could be the standard exit signs in Canada? Not sure, not from there.

"Running Man" exit sign is used internationally, not just Japan. Though I think Japan used it first.

Don't need to, the airport in my city has it to and I am also in the USA.

I've never seen it outside an airport but its there, maybe since it more common for the rest of the world airports use it too, I'm not really sure but every other place you see EXIT in red.

I doubt it. I've seen in an airport, outside never but like I mentioned before it could be so foreigners understand it, only way I see it. Other than that its the red one that we use as standard still.

I recently visited Germany and saw those everywhere over there.

I live in the US and have never seen one of those signs before. Its probably another case of the US on Fahrenheit with the rest of the world on Celsius

 

I noticed them too which got me thinking about this too.
